In Azerbaijan, summers are quite hot, and winters very cold. As such, the mildest time to visit is the spring into early summer, from April to June, or in autumn, from September to October.

In July and August, temperatures sit at an average of 27°C or above. January and February are the coldest, at around 5°C or lower.

Local currency

The currency in Azerbaijan is the Azerbaijan manat (AZN), with no other currencies accepted. You can sometimes use major credit cards, but it’s predominantly a cash-based economy.

Language

The official language spoken in Azerbaijan is Azerbaijani, or Azeri, which is a Turkic language. You’ll still get by speaking English in most places though, especially at major hotels.
