Name format guidelines

Increasing Governmental requirements concerning Passenger Data, highlights the need for accurate recording of Name information. Ideally, the recorded name should match the details in an official Travel document, e.g. Passport. As this may not always be possible, the following guidelines shall be used:

Enter the family name in the last name field and the given name (first and middle) in the first name field.

When you have a hyphenated surname, an apostrophe in the surname or a double surname, delete the hyphen/apostrophe and replace with a space while entering the family name in the last name field.

for example MR. JAMES ROBERT BRYCE-BUCHANAN as

When you have a single letter family name, double the single letter and update in the last name field followed by the given names. Etihad system inhibits the surname, only when the single letter is I, Z, B and C as there letters are used for infant, stretcher and group bookings respectively.

for example MISS MOAN Y as

When names in a booking being created are an exact match, whenever possible add middle names and/or different titles if applicable to make them unique for differentiation, else create a separate booking.

When the family name is not available, enter the given/first name in the last name field and enter the given name as FNU (First Name  Unknown).LNU must not be used in the name field.

When the given names (first and middle) are not available, enter the family name in the last name field and update given name as FNU.

To accomodate name suffixes (Such as Junior,Senior and III) add the suffix to the family name.

If the full name is in one line on the passport, check the name on MRZ. MRZ refers to Machine Readable Zone ,at the bottom of the identity page at a beginning of a passport page.
