Beautiful Bauhaus buildings

Tel Aviv has the highest number of Bauhaus-style buildings in the world, with around 4,000 distinctive white buildings featuring minimalist lines and curves.

Most of the whitewashed buildings were created by several Jewish architects, many of whom had studied in Europe before leaving in the early 1930s. They were commissioned to create housing in the city and the buildings have since been celebrated for the adaptation of modern architecture to suit Tel Aviv’s desert climate.

Tel Aviv is incredibly unique as it’s one of the only places where both housing and commercial properties are built in this modernist style. It is UNESCO recognised and known worldwide as ‘the White City’.

Explore Habima Square

Your flight to Tel Aviv takes you straight to the cultural centre of Israel. At the centre of Tel Aviv culture, sits Habima Square. Here, you can discover the enchanting beauty of the sunken garden with a fresh coffee from one of the nearby cafes. Many of the city’s major cultural sites are on the square, including the Culture Palace, the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion for Contemporary Art and the award-winning Habima Theatre.

Home to the National Theatre of Israel it hosts an amazing calendar of plays and performances throughout the year. The striking building was renovated for four years in 2008, reopening in 2012 completely transformed.
