Flying to Sri Lanka with Etihad
Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB)
The main airport in Sri Lanka is Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport. It’s located around 20 miles (32 kilometres) from Colombo on the west coast of Sri Lanka and there are bus and taxi services available to transfer you to the city. From the airport, you’ll be able to reach the vibrant capital within an hour.

Sri Lanka is home to many incredible national parks, where visitors can watch elephants, birds and big cats. There’s also whale watching off the island’s coastlines.

A 10-day festival featuring dancers, musicians and fire breathers is held in July or August each year as visitors flock to the city from across the world.

Weather patterns alternate on the island. While the ocean at one side is lively enough for surfing, the other is calmer. On the south, the best surfing period is between November and May – on the east, between April and October.
