Visit Riyadh’s Largest Mosque
If you’ve ever visited Hyderabad’s Mecca Masjid and marvelled at its grand scale, you’ll be wowed by Riyadh’s Al Rajhi Grand Mosque. With capacity for over 20,000 people, the mosque has introduced modern technology to assist with daily prayers.
LCD screens provide translation into seven languages and help hearing-impaired visitors. Access to the mosque itself is reserved to those of the Muslim faith – though everyone can enjoy the building from the outside.
Explore the Masmak Fortress
Both Hyderabad and Riyadh are home to imposing fortresses. Built in 1865, Riyadh’s Masmak Fortress may be much younger than Hyderabad’s 13th-century architecture, but its imposing towers and clay and mud structure are still impressive. Restored in the 1980s, you can now visit the fort, learn about the daring 20th-century raid that occurred here and browse the many artefacts in the fort’s museum.
