Dammam has a hot desert climate, meaning there isn’t really a cold season. June to August sees the warmest weather, with highs of over 35°C not unusual.

Things to know before you fly to Dammam

King Fahd International Airport (DMM) is 12 miles (19 kilometres) north-west of the city centre. Hourly buses operate – they run most hours of the day and take up to 45 minutes to reach the centre of Dammam. Book an Etihad transfer and you should be in central Dammam around 30 minutes after your flight lands.

Saudi Arabia has begun to relax its dress code, but you should still be aware of the rules and customs of this traditional Muslim country. During the holy month of Ramadan, you may find that many local shops and restaurants operate at different opening hours.
