Things to know before you fly to Singapore
Airport transfers
After landing at the award-winning Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), you’ll soon be downtown – with connections including the shuttle service and trains. The airport metro station connects to trains heading to the city centre or you can hop on a bus from 6am to midnight daily. Alternatively, book a taxi or an airport transfer with Etihad.
Getting around Singapore
Singapore’s underground metro system (MRT) is ideal for reaching most places of interest. Buses are similarly efficient, but the MRT is simpler for tourists. The trains can be busy during rush hours, so plan ahead.
Food
Food is a huge part of life in Singapore, with the myriad cultures and nationalities here making for a diverse mix of cuisines. Hawker centres are hugely popular with locals and are tourist-friendly too – try Newton Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat. Chinese influence is writ large in the food, while noodle dishes are cheap, delicious and found everywhere.
Plugs
You’ll find three plug types in Singapore – types C, G and M. Type C has two round pins, while type G has three rectangular pins, and M has three round pins. The city operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.
