Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has introduced Boeing’s Toolbox Mobile Library, an iPad mobile application, to enable its Technical Operations team to improve the efficiency of its maintenance engineers and technicians.

With Toolbox Mobile Library, the airline’s engineers now have access to maintenance documents for instant reference and use at all times, removing the need to rely on connectivity or hard-copy printouts.

Rami Awadalla, Acting VP Technical Operations, Etihad Airways said: “Toolbox Mobile Library is revolutionising the way our engineers work, as the new tool enables them to access updated documents in real-time, and directly receive data updates including seamless hyperlinks between manuals on mobile iPad devices.

“Not only do we expect to see a significant improvement in manpower efficiency but it will also support documentation compliance, enhance on-time performance, and reduce operational costs.”

Toolbox Mobile Library hosts maintenance documentation for Etihad Airways’ Boeing 777 and 787 Dreamliner airplanes, along with the airline’s internal documentation.

From a technical standpoint, Etihad Airways’ Technical Operations are responsible for on-time departure of the airline’s aircraft, and with the Boeing Toolbox Mobile Library, engineers will be better equipped to achieve their objectives.

In 2018, the airline recorded network punctuality of 82 percent for flight departures and 84 percent for arrivals – results that place Etihad Airways among the most reliable and punctual airlines in the world for 2018. In its fleet, Etihad Airways currently has 29 Boeing 787s, 19 Boeing 777-300ERs and 5 Boeing 777 freighters.
