Airport transfers
Brussels Airport (BRU) is around seven miles (12 kilometres) away from Brussels city centre. Fly to Brussels then take the train to Brussels central station, and you’ll arrive in under 20 minutes.
Getting around
Public transport in Brussels is reliable and good value. The tram (pré métro) is the most convenient way of getting around with stops close to all major attractions.
Food
No trip to Brussels is complete without sampling the chocolate, which is one of the foods Belgium is best known for. The fries are also outstanding – frying them twice is the secret to crispy edges and a soft inside. Waffles are another national dish, often drizzled with melted chocolate.
Where to stay
The city centre is the quickest way to access Brussels’ major attractions like Grand Place. For a quainter experience, Sablon is an excellent neighbourhood full of cobbled streets and gothic buildings. For something a little livelier, Marollen has a vibrant restaurant scene.
