Saudi Arabia has a desert climate with warm days and cool nights. Temperatures in the summer months can exceed 40°C on the hottest days. Rainfall is very low throughout the year.

Saudi Arabia is home to Mecca – the most important pilgrimage site in Islam. The fifth and final pillar of Islam, the Hajj is a rite of passage for Muslims around the world.
After completing the Hajj, many pilgrims choose to extend their stay in Saudi Arabia by visiting Medina. This beautiful city is home to Al-Masjid an-Nabawi mosque, which was built by the Prophet Muhammad PBUH and is his final resting place.
It’s important to note that only Muslims can enter Mecca and – at the time of writing – only the outer area of Medina may be accessed by non-Muslims.

If you’re looking for rest and relaxation, fly to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast. More than 120 miles of coastline are being developed into luxury resorts, so there are some wonderful places to stay. Saudi Arabia has recently relaxed its dress requirements for female tourists to wear abayas. However, it is important that both men and women dress modestly in public, with women covering their shoulders and knees. Swimwear should only be worn at beaches or swimming pools.
Located on the Arabian Gulf, there are plenty of cultural exhibits in Dammam, including Stone Age finds at the Regional Museum. Try mouth-watering Saudi dishes such as Kabsa – hearty roasted chicken and rice, infused with saffron and black lime.

The official currency of Saudi Arabia is the Saudi riyal (SAR), subdivided into 100 halala. You can exchange currency at the Kingdom’s banks, airports and some shopping centres. Major credit cards are widely accepted.
Language
The official language of Saudi Arabia is Arabic and the most commonly used is Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).
