Madrid Airport is just over seven miles from the centre. Fly to Madrid and book a transfer with Etihad to arrive quickly and in comfort. Alternatively, express shuttle buses run multiple times an hour, day and night. Taxis are available outside the airport too.

A tourist travel pass allows visitors to make unlimited trips on all types of public transport in Madrid over a set period of time – available to use over a number of days. The passes can be used on the Metro, blue city buses and commuter trains. They can be bought at all metro stations as well as ‘estancos’ – local tobacco shops.

The Gran Vía is the main avenue running through the heart of Madrid and a good base for people wanting to sample the city’s colourful atmosphere at close quarters.
