Tipping
In France, tipping is not compulsory. It can be polite to tip beyond the service charge, but a few euros are usually sufficient in mid-range restaurants. If you’re particularly impressed with the service, you’re welcome to leave a more substantial amount.
Local currency
France is one of 19 countries in the Eurozone, so exchange some euros (EUR) before you fly or at the airport. You can also do this when you land at banks and currency exchanges. Most places will accept major credit cards.
Language
French is the main language. Most people in cities speak English, especially those working in hospitality, so dining out should be no problem for English speakers.
Plugs
France uses two plug outlets – type C and type E. Both have dual rounded pins, but type E also accommodates an earthing pin. It’s worth picking up an adaptor before you travel.
