Just a short drive from the city, Akti Vouliagmenis is one of Athens’ best public beaches. Swim in the crystal-clear waters and cool off with a delicious iced frappe from one of the snack bars along the water.

Soak up the local seafood and culture

Walk through the gorgeous Athens districts of Psirri, Exarcheia and Kerameikos to admire vibrant street art. You can take a walking tour to learn about the artists using the city as their canvas.

When you get hungry, stop in pretty Piraeus for the freshest local seafood, or head to a taverna for an authentic Greek meal of roast lamb with potatoes, spicy feta and green beans splashed with Greek olive oil. In the evening, make your way to one of the city’s many live music spots and sing along to rebetiko songs with the crowd.
