How bidding works

Simply place your bid and we’ll let you know if you’ve been successful. You’ll also earn 10% bonus miles, as well as those from your original booking.

Enter your bid online up to four hours before your flight. You can pay using card or Etihad Guest Miles.

If your bid is successful, you’ll receive an email as confirmation. If it was unsuccessful, there’s no change to your booking.  

Proceed to check-in

Proceed to check-in

Check in online or at the airport, and you’ll receive your new boarding pass. Then, enjoy your upgrade!

You’ll need your booking reference or ticket number to bid, which you’ll find on your flight confirmation email. If you can’t find your booking reference, please speak to us

Frequently asked questions

You are eligible to bid for an upgrade if you are flying on an Etihad-operated flight with a confirmed ticket. You are not eligible for an upgrade if you have booked: 

  1. A redemption ticket 
  2. A free ticket 
  3. An already upgraded ticket using Etihad Guest Miles or cash 
  4. Multi-flyer tickets 
  5. As part of a group booking 
  6. A staff ticket 

  1. Yes, you can still place a bid, even if you’ve already checked in online.

  1. No, all bids to upgrade are non-refundable.
