Bavaria enjoys reasonably warm summers, with plenty of sunshine in July and August and average temperatures around 17.5°C. The months of May, June and September generally see pleasant temperatures too – bring a jacket for cooler evenings.

Airport transfers
For a convenient onward journey following your flight into Munich, book a transfer with Etihad to have a driver waiting for you on arrival. Alternatively, you can reach Munich city centre in about 35 minutes using the S-Bahn or approximately 45 minutes by bus. Intercity buses also connect the airport to other cities across Germany and Europe.
Public holidays
The people of Munich observe a number of religious and public holidays. German Unity Day is marked on 3 October each year, while Corpus Christi Day is usually in late May or early June. These shouldn’t cause major disruptions, but some museums and shops may be closed during these times.
Getting around
Munich has an extensive public transport network, with trams, buses, underground (U-Bahn) and suburban (S-Bahn) trains. S-Bahn lines go through the city centre and connect main railway stations to other key locations such as Karlsplatz. You can buy one ticket to use on all public transport, making it even easier to travel across Munich.
Local cuisine
From schweinshaxe (pork knuckle) to brazen (pretzels) and weisswurst (white sausage), food is a huge part of Bavarian culture – and there’s plenty to try here. Don’t miss the schmalznudel, a tasty sweet treat that’s perfect with a coffee in the Viktualienmarkt.
