Your family will be able to earn Etihad Guest Miles quicker as a group while still allowing each member to use their own miles in whatever way they’d like. Each family member will also continue to receive Tier Miles every time they fly, helping them to reach Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Emerald Tier Status, where they can enjoy greater benefits and rewards as they progress. However, any change to a family member’s Tier Miles or Tier Status will not be extended to others in the same family account. 

If you’re at least 21-years-old, all you have to do is log into your account at etihadguest.com and head to the Family Membership account option.  Choose one member as the Family Head and add up to nine more members to the account. Even your extended family members can join in. Just remember, each family member needs their own Etihad Guest account. 

Anyone you’d like to add who is 13-years-old or older must accept the request sent to their email address while anyone who is 12-years-old or younger will be automatically added to your Family Membership account.

No, only family members can be added to your account.

You can leave the account, or the head of your family can remove you, by sending an email to guest@etihadguest.com

Once the process is complete, you must wait for 30 days before creating your own Family Membership account or joining another one.

Your miles have always stayed in your Etihad Guest account so you will not lose anything. Your contribution to the total amount of miles pooled in the Family Membership account will be removed, reducing the balance available for your head of the family to use.

Anyone who joins a Family Membership account, including the head of the family, are subject to a one-month lock-in period, which means that they cannot leave or be removed during this time. Afterwards, any member can leave or be removed.

No, you can be part of only one Family Membership account at a time.

You can’t change the current head of the family listed in your account. You must either leave and start your own Family Membership account or your spouse can dissolve the current account and afterwards, you can create a new one with a different head of the family listed.

This can only be done after a mandatory 30-day waiting period, regardless of which action you take.

Yes, your account may be audited randomly, and you may be asked to provide proof of your family members’ relationship to you.

There are many ways to earn Etihad Tier Miles. You can earn them by using Etihad-branded credit cards, using the Miles on the Go feature on the Etihad Guest App, or by flying with us or our partner airlines. When you fly, you’ll earn Tier Miles based on the distance you fly and the fare you book. You can earn the same number of Tier Miles and Etihad Guest Miles by flying with us or eligible partner airlines.

There are two types of Tier Miles: Tier Miles from flying, and Tier Miles from non-airline activities. You can earn Tier Miles from flying with Etihad Airways or our partner airlines. You can also earn Tier Miles through other non-airline activities, such as using Etihad Guest co-branded credit cards, spending on your Etihad Guest payment cards, or shopping with ‘Miles on the Go’ partners.

Etihad Guest Silver Tier members earn a bonus of 25% of Etihad Guest Miles, Gold Tier members earn a bonus of 50% of Etihad Guest Miles, and Platinum, and Emerald members earn a bonus of 100% Etihad Guest Miles.

The validity of your Etihad Guest Miles depends on your Tier Status:

Etihad Guest Bronze, Silver and Gold Tier members: Your miles are valid for 18 months. These can be extended to an additional 18 months by flying with Etihad Airways or any partner airline.

Etihad Guest Platinum, and Emerald Tier members: Your miles will never expire.

Yes, you can claim miles for flights taken up to three months before you joined the Etihad Guest program. To do this, just send copies of your boarding passes to guest@etihadguest.com.

If you’ve flown on Etihad Airways-operated flights, it’s easy to claim your miles. Etihad Guest Gold

• To keep your Gold Tier Status, you'll need to earn 40,000 Tier Miles within 12 months. 
• 20,000 of the 40,000 Tier Miles must be earned from flying.
• If you’re an Etihad Guest payment card holder, you can buy back your tier for 150,000 Etihad Guest Miles

Etihad Guest Platinum

• To keep your Platinum Tier Status, you'll need to earn 100,000 Tier Miles within 12 months.
• 40,000 of the 100,000 Tier Miles must be earned from flying.

Etihad Guest Emerald

• To keep your Emerald Tier Status, you'll need to earn 125,000 Tier Miles within 12 months.
• 40,000 of the 125,000 Tier Miles must be earned from flying.
• Spend $150,000 USD on flights with Etihad Airways or our partners.

From the moment your tier begins, your Tier Status and your benefits are valid for 12 months.

Core Benefits

Every Etihad Guest member automatically receives Core Benefits. The higher your tier, the more valuable your benefits are.

Custom Benefits

At the start of your tier, Silver Tier members and above can choose their Custom Benefits once a year. The amount of benefits you can select depends on your tier. Once you’ve selected your Custom Benefits, you can enjoy these perks as often as you like throughout the year, unless a specific benefit comes with a set number of uses.

Beyond Benefits

Gold Tier members and above can earn two special shareable rewards of your choice when you reach a certain number of miles.  Once you’ve selected your Beyond Benefits, you can enjoy these perks as often as you like throughout the year, unless a specific benefit comes with a set number of uses.

You can enjoy your benefits as many times as you'd like, unless the benefit has a specific limit on the number of uses.

No, they cannot be changed once you select your Custom or Beyond Benefits. You can enjoy them for 12 months till the end of your tier expiry.

Once your tier starts, you have 30 days to choose your favourite Custom Benefits. If you don't select your Custom Benefits within this timeframe, you will automatically receive default Custom Benefits.

To find out how many miles you need for a GuestSeat, you can either search for a GuestSeat by the number of miles you’d like to spend, or by where you’d like to fly to.

Select the ‘Redeem miles’ option, then choose ‘By miles.’ Enter the number of miles you’d like to spend and where you’d like to fly from, and we’ll show you all the destinations you can reach using your miles.

You can book a GuestSeat using a minimum of 50% of the required miles displayed for your fare.

The miles displayed are indicative values and are subject to change. A premium redemption fare will be applied based on availability, and may be reduced during sale periods. You will not see any applicable taxes, fees or carrier charges.

You can pay for flights in full with miles or use a combination of cash and miles.

Yes, you can upgrade at the airport using your Etihad Guest Miles. This is called an instant upgrade.

If you want to request an instant upgrade at the airport check-in desks, the cost will be converted directly into miles. Please note that the value for instant upgrades quoted at the airport may differ from the value shown on the online calculator.

Upgrades are only available for you or guests booked under the same booking. Guests booked under a separate booking cannot be upgraded together.

If travelling from Abu Dhabi to Perth via Sydney, you’ll need to check the miles for Abu Dhabi to Sydney under Etihad Airways and Sydney to Perth under Virgin Australia.
