What am I covered for?

AXA offers two levels of cover to keep you protected when you’re away from home; FlySafe and FlySafe Plus.

Eligibility

Both FlySafe and FlySafe Plus cover are available for residents of Bahrain, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Kuwait, Spain and UAE, aged 79 years or younger.

Access to a doctor wherever you are

With FlySafe Plus, you’ll have access to ‘Doctor Please!’, a service that offers remote medical consultation, medical advice, and treatment options. You can book and manage appointments through the app and select your preferred language.

To make an appointment access your account through the Virtual Care from AXA portal(opens in a new tab) or download the Virtual Care from AXA portal or download the Virtual Care from AXA app and select the Virtual Doctor service.

Video or phone appointments

Call or use the app to request a call back or book a video consultation 24/7. And don’t worry if it’s out of hours or in the middle of the night, you can arrange for a doctor to call you back 24/7.

Accidents and emergencies

You’ll be covered from 12:01 am the day after you purchase your policy under cancelation guarantee. All other benefits will be effective from the date of your trip.

You’ll be covered for the duration of your trip up to a maximum of 90 days.

If your trip has started, you cannot make any changes or extend the cover of your insurance policy.

To make changes to your policy before you travel, please call us. Please note that when the changes have been confirmed and full premium has been collected, a new policy will be issued with changes and the previous policy will be cancelled and refunded.

Please call us to cancel or change your policy. You can do this at any time you cancel or change your ticket before the original date of departure.

Please be aware that some changes may result in an increased premium being charged. In this case, your previous policy will be cancelled and refunded and a new policy will be issued to you and charged in full.

If you want to cancel your policy for any other reason, and you are travelling from Bahrain, Kuwait or UAE, you can do this within 48 hours of the policy being issued and 48 hours before departure, providing you have not travelled, and no claim has been made.

If you want to cancel your policy and are travelling from Germany, Greece, Ireland or Spain you may cancel your policy within 14 days of receipt of the policy documents; any premium already paid will be refunded to you providing you have not travelled, and no claim has been made.

If you want to cancel your policy and are travelling from France you may cancel your policy within 30 days of receipt of the policy documents; any premium already paid will be refunded to you providing you have not travelled, and no claim has been made.

Your policy will cover for the loss, theft and damage of baggage and personal items during the Period of Insurance. We’ll pay you up to the amounts referred on the table of benefits for your policy.

You must obtain a police report within 24 hours and submit your claim no later than 30 days from expiration of the policy.

Your Insurance policy will reimburse you up to the amount shown in the Policy Summary for all insured persons travelling together, additional accommodation (room only) and travel expenses necessarily incurred in reaching your overseas destination or connecting flights outside your country of residence.

You’ll be covered if you arrive at the airport, port or rail terminal too late to commence your international trip as a result of:

The failure of other scheduled public transport
An accident, breakdown or major event causing serious delay
Unexpected adverse weather

Your Insurance policy will cover you for any irrecoverable, unused travel and accommodation costs and other prepaid charges, which you have paid or are contracted to pay.

You’ll be covered if your trip is completely cancelled or delayed before completion as a result of any of the following during the Period of Insurance:

The death, bodily injury or illness of you or the person you are travelling with, the person you’ve planned to stay with or any close relative
Accidental damage to your home (rendering it uninhabitable) or the police requesting your presence following theft at your home during your trip or the preceding seven days
Hijack of the Insured Person or of any person with whom the Insured Person intends to travel or is travelling

You’ll be covered for medical, pharmaceutical, hospital and ambulance expenses resulting from an accident, illness or condition that occurred

We’ll also pay for emergency medical expenses in cases of illness due to infectious disease (epidemic/pandemic). This applies in any country except the country where your trip originated.

Emergency dental care is only applicable for FlySafe Plus cover. In that case, we’ll pay for medical treatment and pharmaceutical resulting from medical prescription for the emergency relief of pain regardless of the cause as long as the pain is not a pre-existing condition.

Any other treatment or repatriation, pre-existing medical conditions, any illness or condition related to pregnancy, convalescence or relapses will not be covered, as well as any expenses incurred after you have returned to your country of residence.

You will not be covered if you have travelled against government or medical advice.

The maximum age for a passenger to be covered under FlySafe & FlySafePlus is 79 years inclusive at time of purchasing the policy.
The passenger has to be a valid and legal resident of the country where he/she is flying from.
Purchase of FlySafe & FlySafe Plus is only possible when booking flights on www.etihad.com(opens in a new tab)
For one way travel, FlySafe & FlySafePlus is valid up to 24 hours from the time of arrival at the destination.
FlySafe & FlySafePlus provides cover for the duration of your roundtrip booked with Etihad if the trip duration is less than 90 days. If the trip duration is more than 90 days, it covers a maximum of 90 days from the date of travel based on the travel dates provided.
FlySafe & FlySafePlus policy is not changeable. However, in the event of a rescheduling of a flight under the same booking reference, please contact Etihad Airways to amend your policy based on new dates.
The coverage for cancellation of your trip begins when you purchase the policy . All other benefits become effective the date and time the insured starts their trip.
If travelling from Bahrain, Kuwait, FlySafe & FlySafe Plus travel insurance policy can be cancelled within 48 hours of being issued. Any premium already paid will be refunded to you providing you have not travelled, and no claim has been made or is intended to be made, and no incident likely to give rise to a claim has occurred. Any Cancellations after 48 hours will not be refunded.
If travelling from Germany, Greece, Ireland or Spain, FlySafe & FlySafe Plus travel insurance policy can be cancelled within 14 days of being issued. Any premium already paid will be refunded to you providing you have not travelled, and no claim has been made or is intended to be made, and no incident likely to give rise to a claim has occurred. Any Cancellations after 14 days will not be refunded.
If travelling from France, FlySafe & FlySafe Plus travel insurance policy can be cancelled within 30 days of being issued. Any premium already paid will be refunded to you providing you have not travelled, and no claim has been made or is intended to be made, and no incident likely to give rise to a claim has occurred. Any Cancellations after 30 days will not be refunded.
The trip cancellation benefit is only applicable for specific reasons as detailed in your Policy Wording (Terms and Conditions). Covered reasons include, but are not limited to, unforeseen emergencies such as illness, or death involving you, and/or an immediate family member. Pre-existing medical conditions and injuries known to any person who your trip depends on are not covered.
FlySafe & FlySafePlus has exclusions on pre-existing medical conditions as detailed in your Policy Wording. “Pre-existing medical conditions” refers to illness, disease or other medical conditions that you knew about before you purchased your travel insurance product.
FlySafe & FlySafePlus does not cover a claim for flights cancelled by Etihad Airways.
