More about Kuwait

Kuwaiti cuisine

Kuwait’s food scene serves up a delicious fusion of Arabian, Indian and Mediterranean influences. Probably the country’s most popular dish, machboos is a rice-based specialty that combines spice-infused basmati rice with chicken or mutton.

Seafood and fish are used in a lot of dishes, including muttabaq samak – zubaidi fish served on top of rice cooked in spiced fish stock. Be sure to also try the popular dessert Gers Ogailya. This light, fluffy sponge cake is flavoured with saffron, cardamom and rose water.
