Flying with companions

You can travel with more than one child as long as they are aged two years or older.

If you’re travelling with more than one infant under two, every infant must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

You’re welcome to breastfeed on board, and you may wish to bring a muslin or scarf to cover up whilst you do so. Blankets, where available, can be requested from our cabin crew for additional privacy.

We provide bottled drinking water on board which you are welcome to use to make your baby’s milk.

It is Etihad policy to sit children under five next to their paents at no extra cost.

We’ll always try our best to make sure that families are seated together, though we recommend booking in advance to reserve your preferred seats. Some of our fares include a free choice of seat and Extra legroom seats so always check before you book.

If you’ve booked your tickets separately, you have a few options. You can book a seat for each individual ticket at etihad.com/manage, using our seat map to find seats close together. Or you can contact us and we’ll book your seats for you.

For flights to Canada and the U.S.we will seat children under 14 near a parent or guardian at no extra cost. For children aged four or younger, we will provide a seat next to an adult. For children aged five to 14, if we can’t seat them next to an adult, we will try to seat them in the same row, with no more than one seat in between. If this isn’t possible, we will ask for volunteers to change seats.

If you are travelling with up to two children under 12, you can choose seats next to you online for free. Visit Etihad.com/manage to select your seats. If you are travelling with three or more children, or if your children are older than 12, please call us after booking your ticket, and we will help with seating.

The way our premium cabins are configured in our Business and First cabins means you won’t always be sat next to your child, or have clear visibility of them in their seat. As a parent or guardian, you are responsible for ensuring that your child stays in their seat and is secured with their own seatbelt whenever the seatbelt signs are on.

To help children sit or sleep comfortably on our flights, most travel accessories are permitted on board, including JetKids™, BedBox™, Plane Pal and Fly Tot, subject to the following conditions:

The accessory must be securely stowed during take-off and landing

The child’s head must not be positioned under the tray table

If seated at a bulkhead seat, during turbulence and depending on the severity, the travel accessory may be required to be secured in the over storage compartment

Accessories that attach to any part of the seat are not permitted.

Children's meals are available on flights longer than two hours and 50 minutes and must be requested at etihad.com/manage no later than 24 hours before your flight. For shorter flights, you may wish to bring your own food or snacks with you for your children.

Our Unaccompanied Minor service is available for children aged 5 to 17 years old. Before you can request the service, the first thing you need to do is book your child's flight.

Children aged 5 to 11 can use our Unaccompanied Minor service for free. They must be booked on a normal adult fare and have pre-booked the service before arriving at the airport.

Children aged 12 to 17 are permitted to travel on their own adult ticket, but you may prefer to pay to use our Unaccompanied Minor service. Guests between 12 and 17 are not permitted to escort an Unaccompanied Minor. Legal parents below the age of 18 will be permitted to accompany infants or children with relevant identification.

At the airport, your child can use any of our check-in counters. You must stay with your child at check-in and stay in the airport until their flight has departed.

As your child is travelling on an adult fare, their baggage allowance will be as per our standard baggage policy. Use our baggage calculator to understand how much checked and cabin baggage your child can carry. You’ll also find these details on your booking confirmation.

Yes! You can reserve your child’s seat any time after you’ve booked up to one hour before they fly. Otherwise, we’ll automatically allocate a seat for free. See our seat choices.
