Some countries require at least six months validity on your passport to enter. Always visit the official government website of the country you’re travelling to check before you book your flight. If you hold a valid Emirates ID and are travelling back to the UAE, you will be allowed entry as long as you hold a valid passport.

It depends on the rules of the country you're travelling to. Please contact your nearest Embassy or Consulate for more information or visit the IATA Travel Centre.

Digital boarding passes are accepted in most of our worldwide airports, excluding the following destinations:

  • Al Ain
  • Beijing
  • Beirut
  • Cairo
  • Casablanca
  • Chennai
  • Doha
  • Islamabad
  • Karachi
  • Kochi
  • Kolkata
  • Kuwait
  • Lahore
  • Male
  • Manila
  • Moscow
  • Mumbai
  • Nagoya
  • New Delhi
  • Osaka
  • Saint Petersburg
  • Seychelles
  • Shanghai
  • Singapore

There are a few things you can try. First, increase the brightness on your device. Or if you’re using your boarding pass from your Google or Apple Wallet, try downloading the attachment again from the email and using it as a normal file instead.

If your digital boarding pass still won’t work, visit one of our check-in counters and we’ll be happy to help or issue you with a paper boarding pass.

If you already have a boarding pass for your connecting flight, please check the flight information display screens when you land and head to your gate.

If you don’t have a boarding pass or you need any help, please visit our transfer desks, located near the transfer facility on Level 3.

If you have a connecting flight in Abu Dhabi, it is recommended that you give yourself extra time to reach your gate. Typically, it takes around 15 minutes, which includes transfer screening. Our service buggies can help you reach your gate, but they operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you need extra support to reach your gate, you can request Meet & Assist or special assistance before you fly at etihad.com/manage.

The minimum connection time for most flights is 60 minutes, and for US flights, it is 120 minutes. A bigger terminal and more facilities mean a bit more walking. Keep this in mind when it’s time to head to the gate.

If you’re eligible for a visa on arrival, you can leave the airport to explore Abu Dhabi between connecting flights. Otherwise, you can apply for a visa before you travel to the UAE. The visa you need will depend on the length of your trip.

Check to see if you're eligible for a visa on arrival <link: visa page>. If you’re not eligible, you'll need to apply for a UAE transit visa

Transit visas requested via etihad.com can only be used to enter the UAE through Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. If you have applied for any other type of visa, you can enter the UAE through any UAE airport.

You are permitted to leave the airport if you have a transit visa. If your transit time is more than 24 hours, you must either arrange a confirmed hotel reservation or provide the Emirates ID card and UAE Residence visa copy of the person you will be staying with in the UAE.

At the discretion of the UAE government, tourist visas can be extended twice for 30 days each time. It costs AED 1,110 to extend a visa and you can complete your request online.

If you stay for longer than permitted in the UAE without extending your visa, you may face legal action and be required to pay a fine. You may also not be able to apply for a UAE visa in the future.

No. If you hold a Diplomatic passport, you must apply for a visa through the diplomatic channel. If you hold a Service passport or Emergency travel documents, please visit the UAE Embassy in your country of residence to apply for a UAE visa before you travel.

The UAE Immigration department requires all visitors to have a passport that is valid for:

  • At least six month from the date of arrival for transit visas.
  • At least six months from the date of arrival for tourist visas.
  • If your passport expires within these time periods, you will need to renew it before you can apply for a visa and travel to the UAE.

It usually takes three to four business days (Monday to Friday) to process a visa application, so we recommend applying about two weeks before your trip. Applications will not be processed at the weekend or during UAE public holidays.

Additional credit or debit card fees may apply for online visa applications. This will be shown to you when you pay.

Your visa is valid for entry from the issue date.

All visa applications are processed by the UAE immigration authorities. As an airline, we are unable to provide any information about why a visa application has been rejected.

Entry into the UAE is subject to the verification of your documents at the airport.

When you apply for a tourist visa through etihad.com, your visa is sponsored by Etihad Airways. However, you do not have to travel with Etihad Airways to apply for one of these visas.
