Let our family care for yours

Infants are aged seven days to 23 months. Every infant must be accompanied by an adult. This also applies to twins.

Baggage and pushchairs

• Checked baggage to/from USA and Canada: 23kg
  
• Checked baggage to/from all other destinations: 10kg
  
• Cabin baggage: One piece, 5kg
  
• You can carry one pushchair, carrycot or car seat for free, in addition to your child’s checked baggage allowance.
  
• Complimentary strollers are available for when you arrive in Abu Dhabi or when you're in transit.
  

Bassinets

• Bassinets are specially designed carry cots to help your baby sleep flat during the flight. Available on most of our aircraft, bassinets can be reserved for free on a first come, first served basis.
  
• To request a bassinet, visit etihad.com/manage and add a special request for your infant. Then select your seat from our seat map. 
  
• Your baby must weigh less than 11kg and be up to 75cm tall, and they must be able to fit comfortably in the bassinet.
  
• For safety reasons, you may only use a bassinet when the seatbelt sign is switched off and when the cabin crew permit you to do so. 
  
• When the seatbelt sign is on, you must secure your child either on your lap with an infant seatbelt, or in an approved car seat or child restraint device.
  
• If a bassinet seat is not available and you do not select a separate seat for your infant, they must sit on your lap for the duration of the flight.
  

Car seats

• Children up to 36 months travelling on a child’s ticket may use an approved car seat on board. Find out more in our FAQs.
  

Seats

• Infants don’t require their own seat and can sit in your lap for the duration of the flight, secured by a special seat belt.
  
• Alternatively, you can purchase an infant seat. If they are in an approved car seat they can stay in the seat for the duration of the flight.
• If you do not have an approved car seat, they must sit on your lap during take-off and landing, and whenever the fasten seatbelt sign is on.
• Some seats are free, depending on the fare you book.  

Meals

• Order a child's meal by adding a special request at etihad.com/manage at least 24 hours before you fly. Available on flights longer than two hours and 50 minutes. 
  
• If you'd prefer, you can bring your own baby food, make up a bottle or reheat milk and food on board.

Entertainment

• We recommend packing toys, books and games, as well dummies, soothers and comforters.
  
• Plug points are available if you need to charge your own device. Devices are not permitted to be fixed to bassinets.
  
• Children up to two can snuggle up with a super-soft blanket to take home, starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Tweety.
  

Changing facilities

• Baby changing facilities are available in our toilets on board.
  
• Changing mats are not available on board so you may wish to bring your own.

Baggage and pushchairs

• Normal baggage rules apply. Check your booking confirmation or use our calculator for your baggage allowance.
  
• You can carry one pushchair, carrycot or car seat for free, in addition to your child’s checked baggage allowance.
• To carry as cabin baggage, pushchairs can weigh up to 7kg and must not be longer than 115cm (length + height + width).
• Complimentary strollers are available for when you arrive in Abu Dhabi or when you're in transit.

• Look out for Scooby-Doo and the Looney Tunes crew on our meal boxes and snack bags. 

Entertainment

• Our activity books, crayons and memory games (subject to availability) for children aged three to eight are perfect for keeping small hands and minds busy on board.
  
• On long flights, children aged nine to 13 will receive a Scooby-Doo backpack, passport holder and board game.
  
• It's always a good idea to pack a small bag for your child, filled with things to keep them busy, like books and puzzles.

• Some seats are free, depending on the fare you book.  

Meals

• Your child will be able to select from our adult menu options on board.
  
• If your child has a medical dietary requirement, you can request a special meal at etihad.com/manage. Please do this at least 24 hours before you fly.

Entertainment

• On long flights, children aged nine to 13 will receive a Scooby-Doo backpack, passport holder and board game.
  
• Make sure your child is signed up to Etihad Guest to access our Chat package for free and use their favourite chat apps on board. You'll also be able to start earning and spending miles as a family.
• To stream, share or surf from the sky, you can purchase an unlimited Wi-Fi package.

You can travel with more than one child as long as they are aged two years or older.

If you’re travelling with more than one infant under two, every infant must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

You’re welcome to breastfeed on board, and you may wish to bring a muslin or scarf to cover up whilst you do so. Blankets, where available, can be requested from our cabin crew for additional privacy.

We provide bottled drinking water on board which you are welcome to use to make your baby’s milk.

We’ll always try our best to make sure that families are seated together. If you’ve booked your tickets separately, you have a few options. You can book a seat for each individual ticket at etihad.com/manage, using our seat map to find seats close together. Or you can contact us and we’ll book your seats for you.

The way our premium cabins are configured in our Business and First cabins means won’t always be sat next to your child, or have clear visibility of them in their seat. As a parent or guardian, you are responsible for ensuring that your child stays in their seat and is secured with their own seatbelt whenever the seatbelt signs are on.

To help children sit or sleep comfortably on our flights, most travel accessories are permitted on board, including JetKids™, BedBox™, Plane Pal and Fly Tot, subject to the following conditions:

• The accessory must be securely stowed during take-off and landing
• The child’s head must not be positioned under the tray table
• If seated at a bulkhead seat, during turbulence and depending on the severity, the travel accessory may be required to be secured in the over storage compartment
• Accessories that attach to any part of the seat are not permitted

Children up to 36 months old can travel in an approved car seat on board if they have their own allocated seat.

Car seats are also permitted to be used by children with disabilities as long as they meet all safety requirements.

• Rearward-facing car seats are only permitted in First or Business and may only be used by infants up to six months old who weigh less than 10kg.
• All other infants and children must sit in a forward-facing car seat.
• The car seat must be in good condition with no sign of damage, have a solid back and seat, and be labelled as approved for aviation use.
• Children must be properly secured in the car seat and accompanied by an adult in the adjacent seat for take-off and landing.
• Car seats must be fixed to the aircraft seat with a seatbelt only – two-part car seats with a seat and separate base are permitted.
• The car seat harness must have a single release button and must secure the infant’s lap, torso and crotch.
• Car seats are not permitted in an emergency exit row, or immediately in front or behind of this row.

Car seats that meet the following safety standards are approved to be used on board:

• Australian/ New Zealand Standards (AS/NZS 1754)
• United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations (FMVSS) No. 213
• Canadian Standards (CMVSS 213 or CMVSS 231.1)
• European Standard (European Technical Standard Order ETSO-C100c on Aviation Child Safety Device (ACSD))
• UN Standard ECE R44-04 (or 03) or ECE R129 bearing the respective “ECE R” label ECE-44
• German Standard TUV Doc. TUV/958-01/2001

You can carry one pushchair, carrycot or car seat for free, in addition to your child’s baggage allowance.

The following harnesses and support devices are permitted on board:

• CARES harnesses can be used in Economy only and are suitable for children aged one or older weighing 10 – 20kg
• Crelling model 27I can be used in Economy only and is suitable for children aged two – five years old
• Crelling model 27A can be used in Economy only and is suitable for children aged five – eight years old
• Crelling model 27B can be used in all cabins and is suitable for children aged nine and above.

In Economy, harnesses and support devices cannot be used by children sitting in an aisle or emergency exit row seat.
