Local cuisine

Rice and mild curries are the tasty staples of Myanmar’s cuisine. Indian and Chinese influences can also be detected in the country’s side dishes, which include lentil soup and vegetables served with a fish sauce known as ngapí ye.

Be sure to sample mohinga, the national dish – which is a delicious fish and noodle soup that comes in a variety of regional interpretations. If you have a sweet tooth, tuck into desserts made using grated coconut, tapioca and sticky rice.
