The most famous is Lunar New Year, which sees the streets filled with red lanterns as residents pray for good fortune in the temples or browse the pop-up markets selling flowers and food.

The night parade is the main event, with floats and Chinese dragons illuminated with twinkling lights.

Head to the famous Ladies Market and Temple Street Night Market for souvenirs, where you’ll find everything from suits and shoes to antiques and old print newspapers.
